While the legendary 1000 Miglia is starting its journey to Brescia these days, preparations for the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria are already in full swing here in Austria.
Salzburg, 18 June 2025 – Last year, participants and car enthusiasts experienced the unique spirit of the “Freccia Rossa” (Red Arrow) for the first time in Austria with the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria. Following this successful premiere, classic cars will once again wind their way through SalzburgerLand and the surrounding Alps in true 1000 Miglia style from 11 to 14 September 2025. Participants in this regularity event can look forward to an immersive experience that uniquely combines a passion for driving with the exploration of new routes. Both beginners and professionals will have the chance to learn or fine-tune their regularity skills.
To ensure variety in 2025, the organising committee drew an entirely new route in the road book. For three days, the route will take competitors from the mountains to the lakes and across national and state borders to the finish in Salzburg.
The race starts in the renowned Alpine town of Seefeld, just a few kilometres from Innsbruck. Following accreditation on Thursday, the participants will first be given test rides to familiarise themselves with the timing methodology. That evening, the Seefeld Trophy will be the first highlight of the event, taking place in the charming centre of Seefeld in Tirol.
On Friday, the stage leads from Seefeld to the magnificent Zillertaler Höhenstraße, over the Gerlos Pass into SalzburgerLand, and past the Krimml Waterfalls to Saalfelden-Leogang. On Saturday, the participants will start the second stage from the high plateau of the Steinernes Meer, where they will find a real gem in the form of the Königssee. The route then takes them back to Austria via the highest panoramic road in Germany at Rossfeld, continuing through SalzburgerLand, past Mattsee and Obertrumer See, towards the finish line. The 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria 2025 will end with a gala dinner and awards ceremony at the M32 on the Mönchsberg, offering stunning views of the Hohensalzburg Fortress. It’s not just the route that is impressive though; the accommodation is first-class too. Participants will stay at the Alpin Resort Sacher in Seefeld, the Hotel Krallerhof in Leogang, and the Hotel Sacher in Salzburg.
Cars from the 1000 Miglia era can take part, including models that competed in the 1000 Miglia between 1927 and 1957. Cars from the post-1000 Miglia era can also take part, including sports and Gran Turismo cars built between 1958 and 1976. Running alongside the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria is the Porsche Challenge, which will see up to 20 Porsches built between 1977 and the present day accompany the historic 1000 Miglia cars.
Registration for the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria is open to a limited number of participants and can be completed online at 1000migliawarmupaustria.at. Last year, John and Chelly Houtkamp from the Netherlands won in the oldest car in the competition, an Alfa Romeo 6C with Zagato bodywork from 1929. They were delighted to receive a guaranteed starting place in the next 1000 Miglia in Italy.
ABOUT 1000 MIGLIA
The 1000 Miglia (eng. Thousand Miles) is considered the “most beautiful race in the world,” as Enzo Ferrari defined it: from 1927 to 1957, the 1000 Miglia was a race that ran along the historic Brescia-Rome-Brescia route through the unique Italian landscape and was geared towards maximum speed. Today, the legend and the brand live on in a regularity race for historic vehicles. Every year, around 450 participants, the majority of whom come from more than 35 countries around the world, drive their valuable historic cars along the Italian roads through cities of art as well as historic villages, accompanied by enthusiastic spectators along the route. www.1000miglia.it www.1000miglia.it
