Starting next Thursday (11 September), the impressive vintage cars of the 1000 Miglia will tour the SalzburgerLand, Tyrol and neighbouring Bavaria for three days. Participants and fans can look forward to a regularity race showcasing living automotive history. <\/strong><\/p>

Salzburg, 5 September 2025 \u2013 Last year, participants and car enthusiasts experienced the unique spirit of the ‘Freccia Rossa’ (Red Arrow) for the first time in Austria with the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria. Following its successful debut, classic cars in the style of the 1000 Miglia will once again drive through SalzburgerLand and the surrounding Alps from 11 to 14 September 2025. A completely new route has been designed by the organising committee to provide variety. Spanning three days, the route will wind its way from the mountains to the lakes, crossing national and regional borders en route to the final destination of Salzburg. Read our guide below to make sure you don’t miss the 50 or so cars in the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria and the Porsche Challenge. <\/p>

Route on Thursday, 11 September 2025<\/strong>
The 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria starts on Thursday with the Seefeld Trophy. It starts at 15:45 p.m. at the Seefeld Sports Arena. Following an initial round of tests, including in K\u00fchtai, the first participants are expected to arrive in the village square of the renowned Alpine resort of Seefeld at around 17:50, where, for the first time, spectators will wave the coveted red 1000 Miglia flags. <\/p>

Route on Friday, 12 September 2025<\/strong>
The first major stage of the race takes place on Friday, starting in Seefeld in Tyrol and finishing in Saalfelden-Leogang. It starts at 08:00 in front of the Alpin Resort Sacher in Seefeld. Shortly after setting off, participants will turn off at the Rossh\u00fctte mountain railway to begin the time trial. From there, the route continues into Germany. The first average speed trial of the day will take place in the Isar Valley. After passing Lake Sylvenstein, the route leads back to Austria, where the next time trial takes place in front of Lake Achensee. A coffee break at the Almgasthaus Zellberg-St\u00fcberl at 10:20 am offers the opportunity to take in the fascinating Alpine panorama. The Zillertaler H\u00f6henstra\u00dfe is no less impressive, with participants winding their way through the heart of Tyrol. At the K\u00f6nigsleiten Arena, participants can enjoy lunch at the Susi Alm, as well as another time trial. The vehicles of the 1000 Miglia Warm Up Austria then return to SalzburgerLand via the Gerlos Pass. As well as the race, there is time to enjoy the region’s beauty, such as the Krimml Waterfalls. In the afternoon, the route leads via Neukirchen (14:00) to Mittersill (14:20), which is nestled between the Hohe Tauern and the Kitzb\u00fchel Alps. The route then continues over the Kleiner Dientnersattel pass on the Hochk\u00f6nig to Saalfelden-Leogang, where the first participants will arrive at 15:55 at the Rathausplatz Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer. <\/p>

Route on Saturday, 13 September 2025<\/strong>
After spending the night at the Hotel Krallerhof in Leogang, the drivers set off at 8.45am on Saturday morning, passing through the Biathlon World Cup venue in Hochfilzen en route to Germany. Following further tests, they stop for coffee at the crystal-clear K\u00f6nigssee in the Berchtesgaden National Park at 10:15. The road book then guides them to Germany’s highest panoramic road at Ro\u00dffeld, which climbs to 1,570 metres. A time trial and stamp check are scheduled at the Manro Classic Museum (11:45). Lunch will be served at the Weyringer restaurant on Lake Wallersee at 12:10, after which the route continues to Mattsee for another short stop (14:10). The route then leads directly to Salzburg’s Old Town. From around 14:30 the 1000 Miglia vehicles will be presented to the public at Kajetanerplatz, with free admission in a magnificent setting. <\/p>

Race procedure<\/strong>
The event is a regularity competition. The road book specifies the route along which participants must complete various tests. In the 35 time trials, participants must drive a specific section of the route within a specified time \u2013 neither faster nor slower. The eight average speed tests are particularly challenging, as participants must drive between two points at a set average speed. Traffic regulations apply throughout the entire route. The driving technique, precision, and teamwork of the drivers and co-drivers will determine the final result, which will be announced at a ceremony on Saturday evening at the M32 on Salzburg’s M\u00f6nchsberg. <\/p>

The 1000 Miglia (eng. Thousand Miles) is considered the \u201cmost beautiful race in the world,\u201d as Enzo Ferrari defined it: from 1927 to 1957, the 1000 Miglia was a race that ran along the historic Brescia-Rome-Brescia route through the unique Italian landscape and was geared towards maximum speed.
